…Jazz Appreciation Month
April is jazz Appreciation Month. I went back to the drawings I made at JALC , Here’s an idea of how they would work as posters:

And here’s one that’s just a drawing, no poster:

Second Night: Jazz at Lincoln Center
This time around was quite different! The Rose Theatre couldn’t be more different from Dizzy’s. A whole other experience. It was great.
The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra led by Wynton Marsalis put on such a beautiful show. And all along, projected onto jumbo screens above the orchestra, was a slideshow of some of the most important art of the 20th century. It was magical.
Among the many talented musicians were Ted Nash(alto sax), Ryan Kisor(trumpet), Chris Crenshaw(trombone), Victor Goines(tenor sax), Carlos Henriquez(bass), Nathalie Bonin(violin), and Papo Vazquez(trombone).
Here are some drawings of the night.

Yes, that means that there will be a second night! I am so excited to go back and draw some more music!
But for now, here’s a few drawings I made at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, at Jazz at Lincoln Center. It was dark, the city skyline was the backdrop, and the music was so incredible! At one point, Greg reached over and suggested I use the crayons on black paper. “I think you’ll have fun with these” And I did! I can’t wait to go back and draw more!
Thanks Sue!! You’re awesome. And thanks to all the wonderful people we met that night!
